Your Body Knows Before Your Brain Does
You know that feeling when you meet someone…
And your body says no before your mouth has finished saying hello?
Nothing has happened.
They haven’t insulted you.
They haven’t said, “I’m really into crypto and cold showers.”
And yet something in you pulls back.
A tiny shift.
A feeling you can’t explain, but can’t ignore.
Then there are other people.
Other rooms.
Other conversations.
Before you’ve made sense of it, you lean in.
Your breath opens.
Your shoulders drop.
Something in you moves closer.
Not because you decided to.
Because your body did.
We talk about intuition in three places.
The head.
The gut.
The heart.
The head gives you thoughts.
The gut gives you signals.
And the heart…
It knows things you may spend years trying to explain in a journal.
But there’s another part of the body we overlook.
The feet.
Yes.
The things currently in your socks.
Your feet are incredible sensory tools.
The soles are packed with receptors reading pressure, balance, weight, texture, and movement.
They’re always telling your brain where you are in space.
Which means your feet aren’t just carrying you through life.
They’re reading life back to you.
And once you notice this, you start seeing it everywhere.
In one conversation, your weight moves forward onto your toes.
Interest.
Curiosity.
In another, your weight shifts back into your heels.
Distance.
Caution.
Your mouth is still saying, “Yeah, sounds great.”
But your feet are already drafting the resignation letter.
This happens all the time.
Quietly.
Subconsciously.
Your body is always leaning somewhere.
Towards the thing.
Away from the thing.
Into the room.
Out of the room.
Into the person.
Away from the person.
Now, I’m not saying you should make every major life decision based on your toes.
But I am saying this:
Your body is giving you information all day long.
Most of us just live too far above the neck to hear it.
We try to think our way through things that our bodies have already responded to.
So try this.
The next time you feel unsure about a person, a place, a room, an opportunity, or a decision…
Don’t rush to solve it.
Don’t immediately ask, “What do I think?”
Go lower.
Feel the floor.
Ask yourself:
Where is my weight?
Am I leaning forward?
Am I pulling back?
Or am I centred?
You don’t need to turn it into a spiritual ceremony.
But if you have never tried this before.
Be aware of where your weight is in your feet.
The feet show direction.
Have the best week ahead
