The Hardest Smart Thing You’ll Ever Do
Not long ago, I found an old journal of mine from ten years ago.
Inside were lists of goals, habits, plans and dreams.
Some of it made me smile.
Some made me cringe.
But a few lines made me stop completely.
Because I still knew those things…
But I hadn’t changed much because of them.
I hadn’t acted on them.
I hadn’t let them shape me.
I hadn’t let them change me.
And that’s the real challenge of growth, isn’t it?
Not the knowing.
But the becoming.
Smart Isn’t What You Know
We all probably know someone in our lives who’s brilliant.
You know the type — insightful, thoughtful, full of wisdom.
But despite all that potential, they stay stuck.
Why?
Because information doesn’t equal transformation.
I have a friend like this — genuinely one of the smartest people I know.
His mind is a library. You ask, he answers. Instantly.
But when it comes to his own life?
He sadly makes the same poor choices again and again.
Self-sabotage, bad habits, no follow-through.
Change Is a Muscle. You Can Train It.
For the last few months, I stopped running.
I don’t even know why.
It sharpens my mind.
It fills me with ideas.
It lifts my mood.
It makes me feel like me again.
And then I just… stopped.
My excuse? “I’m bored. I’ve run every route. Nothing’s new anymore.”
But last week, I tried something small:
One slow mile.
That was it.
It almost felt embarrassing.
In January, I was running 40 miles a week.
Last week? One.
But I came back home a different person.
Happier, spunkier and calmer.
And since then? I’ve run every other day.
Not far. Just 3 miles.
But something clicked.
Not because of how much I did.
But because I finally started again.
And that’s the key.
Momentum creates momentum.
Don’t Wait to Be Ready. Just Begin.
So, here’s your challenge this week:
✨ What’s one thing you’ve been putting off — big or small?
✨ Now, what’s the tiniest, messiest, most embarrassingly doable step you could take toward it… today?
It’s the brave act of becoming — one choice at a time.
With love and belief,
Have a great week.
