The Elixir ← The Elixir

On Overwhelm and Focus

There are 50 days left until the end of the year.

How's your year going?

Those New Year's resolutions you set in January?

Are we there?

If you’re feeling a bit off-track, here’s the good news: there’s still time to finish strong.

Big dreams can feel overwhelming. It’s like standing at the base of a mountain, looking up at a peak with no clear path to the top.

The journey looks long, and the goal feels distant.

I get it. I am there too, wondering if I’ll ever make it.

Chasing a big dream can feel endless.

But what if there’s a way to break it down?

What if you could achieve your Someday Goal by focusing on just ONE thing at a time?

The secret may be to focus on the next right step.

As someone who gets overwhelmed easily, I use this strategy all the time.

Let's take massive action together and end this year on a high.

Someday = No Day

Take out your pen, sit down with your favourite drink and journal, and answer these questions...

  1. What’s the ONE thing I can do in the next five years to be on track to achieve my Someday Goal?
  2. Then, what's the ONE thing I can do this year to stay on track for my five-year goal and, in turn, my Someday Goal?
  3. What's the ONE thing I can do this month to stay on track for my yearly goal and, ultimately, my Someday Goal?
  4. What’s the ONE thing I can do this week to stay on track for my monthly goal, my yearly goal, and my Someday Goal?
  5. What’s the ONE thing I can do today to stay on track for my weekly goal, my monthly goal, my yearly goal, and my Someday Goal?
  6. And finally, what’s the ONE thing I can do right now to stay on track for today’s goal, and for my bigger goals ahead?

This is the power of breaking your goals down: by focusing on ONE thing at a time, you unlock the ability to move forward without feeling paralysed by the big picture.

It’s not about taking giant leaps, but about taking consistent, focused action that brings you closer to your ultimate goal.

Focus on progress, not perfection.

Every step you take, from now to five years from now, builds on the one before it.

You turn your dream into something tangible by identifying the ONE thing you can do right now.

The journey to your Someday Goal starts with one small action—and that action is yours to take today.

So, what will you do next?

With you every step of the way,
Chris

“For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks. The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. Conditions are never perfect. "Someday" is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. If it's important to you and you want to do it "eventually," just do it and correct course along the way.”
