Listening to Anxiety
Stealing.
Cheating.
Drinking alone.
Telling white lies.
No plan for the day.
Being critical of others.
Being critical of myself.
Long periods of time alone.
Drinking too much caffeine.
No priorities.
Going to bed late and waking up late.
Saying "no" to a friend's invite to meet up.
Not working out for long periods of time.
Spending too much time on social media.
We all have habits that pull us away from who we want to be.
Habits we use to hide our lingering anxiety.
We eat, drink and indulge to suppress, distract and numb our feelings away.
We do everything but sit with it.
But what if anxiety wasn’t something to fear?
A beautiful way of reframing anxiety is "a kind of tax we pay in return for self-awareness."
A quiet nudge saying: Something is off. Pay attention.
What am I not seeing?
What am I missing?
When we reframe it this way.
We can stop the resistance, we can stop the inner fighting.
There is no need to bury this feeling and run from it.
Instead, turn inwards and listen to this feeling closely.
What is it trying to tell you?
What am I avoiding?
What needs to change?
Anxiety can be our greatest friend and feedback mechanism or our worst enemy.
I like the analogy of the snow globe.
When you fight anxiety, it is like a shaken snow globe.
It's chaos, you can't see anything and the big picture is a blur.
But when you stop shaking—when you sit with it, breathe, surrender and let things settle—clarity returns.
In the stillness of your presence, you transcend illusions, misconceptions, and narratives that tether you to the external and superficial.
In this quiet state of clarity, a deeper truth emerges, revealing an enlightened state of self-awareness.
You found the truth.
You found clarity.
You surrendered.
You find that beyond all the noise, there is only love.
Love for yourself, love for others, love for this very moment.
Have a beautiful week ahead.
