The Elixir ← The Elixir

Want More? Start by Giving People This.

Ever notice how "self-help" often turns into self-obsession?

Yeah, me too.

Here's the thing I've been chewing on lately:

Most self-help advice is inward-focused.

What's in this for me?

How can I get more attention?

How can I get more money?

How can I get people to like me?

And look, that's fine…

But… It's also the reason a lot of it doesn't work.

You can read every book, take every class, and meditate till your head levitates.

But until you understand people, nothing really clicks.

What if instead we tested a different philosophy for life?

"Stop trying to get what you want. Start by understanding what they want."

That's it.

Whether you're building a business, asking someone on a date, trying to grow your audience, or pitching your boss…

You don't win by pushing. You win by understanding.

You get everything you want when you help other people get what they want.

Not because it's a tactic. But because it's the truth.

People are human. They want to be seen. Heard. Understood. Valued. Respected.

Loved.

Do that? And you become magnetic.

Try this: Flip the Frame

Next time you're talking to someone — friend, partner, stranger, barista.

Try this:

Don't ask yourself: "How can I look good right now?"

Instead, flip the frame and ask: "What's it like to be them?"

What's going on in their world? What are they worried about? What makes them feel safe, seen, or special?

Even in a 10-second exchange, you'll start to feel it:

Connection. Empathy. Power.

People don't remember what you say. They remember how you make them feel.

So this week's idea to test is simple.

Don't lead with self. Lead with empathy. Give what you want to get.

You'll be shocked at what comes back.

Have a great week ahead,
Kia kaha & love
