My Birthday and Lessons Learned

I’ll turn a glorious 35 this week!

It’s going to be a great year—I can already feel it.

As you know, I keep a daily journal, and I’ve gone through all the lessons I’ve learned over the past year. I thought I’d share them with you.

Not all may be relatable, but I hope there are one or two gems that help you pause and reflect to make your days better.

Here’s to a great time together.

Much love,
Chris

If Your Heart Isn't In It, Don't Begin It

There is a cost to distraction and temptation. What is really hard is to focus on a few things and do them really well.

I have watched this video 100+ times to remind myself of this truth.

Workout Hard, Rest Hard

Rest days enable growth days. Fitness is a lot like climbing a mountain—there are steep climbs and plateaus. Rest days are the times you stop to catch your breath so you’re ready for the next ascent. Over time, you keep moving higher.

When They Go Low, You Go High

Some people will try to drag you down. Instead of getting triggered by them, fill them with love and make them better.

Practice Neglects Luck

My dad writes the same message in my Christmas card every year.

"The more I practice, the luckier I get."

Anywhere you want to get, just do more of that one thing.

Count in terms of hundreds: how many hundreds of attempts did it take you to get there?

Perfecting our products, took thousands.

Impatience with actions, patience with results.

If you’re willing to suck at anything for 100's of days in a row, you can achieve almost anything you want.

Speak The Truth, Always

Your voice is your superpower. From telling white lies to deceiving the truth to protect your ego, just say it as it is.

The truth will set you free.

Creating Vs Productivity

You cannot be productive when you are creating. Productivity is associated with getting things done.

When you create, you go through many weeks of nothing to show, then one day you wake up with a masterpiece. Be patient with yourself when creating.

Consume What You Want To Experience And Feel

Spend less time on social media, reading the news, engaging in negative conversations, or watching movies that make you feel anxious.

Spend more time with books.

Most of the world’s knowledge has already been written somewhere; you’ve just got to read the right books.

Is Thought True?

When I feel super anxious and overwhelmed, I ask myself three questions.

  • When was my last healthy meal?
  • When was the last time I exercised?
  • When was the last time I had a good night’s sleep?

Most "thoughts" are not true, we just failed to do the above three things well.

On Being A "Good" Friend

Friendships that remain at the surface level often involve polite exchanges and light-hearted conversations, but they rarely challenge us to grow or confront our deeper issues.

True friendship goes beyond this superficial layer. It requires the courage to ask hard questions and have honest conversations, even if it means risking temporary discomfort or conflict.

When you care about someone, you should be willing to point out things they might not see or want to acknowledge about themselves. It's not about being harsh or critical but about helping them become better, even if it means they might be upset with you in the moment. In the long run, these difficult conversations can strengthen the bond between you both, leading to more authentic and meaningful connections.

One Quote

"Always leave something the way you found it, if not better."

My mum used to say this to me all the time as a kid. Whether it’s a place you visit or the people you meet, make things better wherever you go.

One Focus Going Forward

Try and obtain at least 75% of my calories from whole foods (all our products are organic single sourced whole food ingredients)

Try not to make food choices when tiered or hungry.

Thank you for reading my Birthday post.

I started No Ordinary Moments because I was tired of how something as simple as a cup of coffee could leave me feeling anxious, distracted, overwhelmed, and give me an awful night’s sleep.

I wanted to create drinks that did the opposite—to make you feel great, inspired, and more in love with the moments in your life.

You’re all rock stars, and it's because of you I continue to write and create products that make your days better, healthier, and happier.

Kia kaha and much love,

Chris Xx
